Paweł Pieniążek has been a journalist for more than 15 years and has reported on the wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Nagorno-Karabakh, Syria, and Ukraine. During his time at Harvard, his research focused on modern armed conflicts, human security, the robotization of warfare, and qualitative methodologies. He held the Poynter Fellowship at Yale University in 2015 and is the author of five nonfiction books.
