Thomas F. Remington is Visiting Professor of Government at Harvard and Goodrich C. White Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Emory University. Dr. Remington is author of the recently published book, The Returns to Power: A Political Theory of Economic Inequality (Oxford, 2023) as well as numerous books and articles on Russian politics, including The Politics of Inequality in Russia (Cambridge, 2011) and Presidential Decree Power in Russia: A Comparative Perspective (Cambridge, 2014). His current research addresses the problem of economic inequality in the United States, Russia, China and Germany.

He was chair of the political science department at Emory from 2001-2007. He has been a member of the Boards of Directors of the National Council for Eurasian and East European Research and the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies.
