Join us for the second session of the Davis Center’s three-part webinar series, "Strategies that Work: Inclusive Literacy Instruction in the Social Studies Classroom," designed for K–14 educators. Each 90-minute session highlights effective, research-based approaches for strengthening literacy skills through inclusive and engaging social studies instruction. Throughout the series, participants will engage deeply with the topic of the Holodomor (man-made famine in Soviet Ukraine), using relevant historical resources to demonstrate and practice a variety of literacy strategies in an authentic context. Webinar 2: Unlocking Complex Text - Practical and Inclusive Reading Strategies focuses on equipping educators with practical tools to help all learners access and comprehend the complex texts often found in social studies classrooms. Participants will explore inclusive strategies, such as pre-teaching essential vocabulary and scaffolding inference instruction, that support reading comprehension across a range of ability levels and linguistic backgrounds.
Other webinars in this series:

Webinar 3: Making Writing Manageable - Scaffolding Techniques for the Social Studies Classroom
