Marty Martinage is an M.Div. student at Harvard Divinity School, pursuing ordination in the United Church of Christ. As an undergraduate at Wellesley College, they did archival research on Vladimir Nabokov's role in founding Wellesley's Russian department, and they presented at the Davis Center's 28th Annual Undergraduate Colloquium on Russian and Eurasian Studies. They grew up stomping around in the mud at a UCC sleepaway camp, and today their research is focused on the role of literature and human connections to the natural world in religious separatist movements, with a focus on Tolstoy's later religious writings.
